Vander Haag’s is looking for a Diesel Shop Foreman / Service Manager to lead our 14-bay diesel repair shop at our Des Moines, IA, location.

This role is ideal for a Lead Technician or Shop Foreman who is ready to step into shop leadership while still staying connected to the day-to-day operation of the shop.

You will lead a strong team of technicians and fabricators, manage workflow in a busy diesel service operation, and work alongside the General Manager to continue growing our service business in the Des Moines metro area.

About the Shop

• 14 bay diesel repair facility
• Team of 6 - 8 Diesel Technicians, 2 - 3 Fabricators, and 1 Service Assistant
• Estbalished customer base of repair shops, fleets, and owner-operators
• Monday - Friday schedule, no nights, no weekends, and no on-call hours

What You'll Do

• Lead and support a team of diesel technicians and fabricators
• Schedule and manage workflow across a 14-bay service shop
• Communicate repair estimates, approvals, and updates with customers
• Monitor shop productivity and maintain high quality standards
• Work with the General Manager to grow service business in the Des Moines region
• Prospect potential customers in the Des Moines metro area via phone, email, text, and in person visits
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment
• Help recruit, train, and develop service technicians

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in heavy duty diesel repair
• Leadership experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Technician, or Service Manager is preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lead technicians while keeping the shop productive and efficient
• Someone who takes pride in running a clean, professional shop, and building a strong team culture
• Someone with strong aptitude for sales, customer service, is personable, and able to quickly foster strong relationships with customers.

Compensation:

• This position pays a base salary + bonus potential.  Base salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications
• Total compensation (base + bonus) will range from $95,000 to $110,000/year
