Vander Haag’s is an industry leader in the heavy duty truck & equipment industry!  We have an opportunity for you to join our rapidly growing team as a Parts Purchasing Specialist with our corporate Centralized Purchasing team.  This position is responsible to coordinate the purchasing of vendor parts to be resold by Vander Haag’s and will work closely with a number of our new parts vendors.  This position can be based out of our store locations in Spencer, IA; Sioux Falls, SD; Hull, IA; or Sanborn, IA.  

General Responsibilities include:

• Source and procure parts based on stock levels and special order requests from parts and service departments.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, including stock levels, consumption rates, and re-order points.
• Forecast parts usage based on historical sales data to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, fostering open communication and collaboration.
• Work with Purchasing Director to monitor vendor performance.
• Works closely with other members of the Centralized Purchasing team to make appropriate recommendations regarding purchasing strategies.
• Review “lost sales” and follow-up with parts sales staff as needed.
• Assist the Purchasing Director to implement cost saving initiatives such as bulk purchasing, consolidation of vendors, and competitive price reviews.
• Ensures cost and product information in system is accurate at all times.
• Other duties & related projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have strong computer skills (Outlook and Excel are required).  Prior experience within an ERP/MRP system is also preferred.
• The right candidate should also be fluent in navigating the Internet and various software programs.
• Strong mathematic, analytical, and organizational skills are required.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts in both 1:1 and small group settings.

Hours: Day shift hours, Monday through Friday. This is a salaried (overtime exempt) position. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required.
