Learn a hands-on trade while earning a full time paycheck!   As a Technician Trainee, you'll be paired up with a Mentor Technician to progress through Vander Haag's, 12 training modules.

 

Each module will teach you valuable hands-on skills and provide the experience you need to become an entry-level Diesel Service Technician in one of our service shops!  You will be paid for your training (and be eligible for our benefits program).  The lenghth of the training depends on skills demonstration, qualifications, and prior experience.  Most trainees complete the training in a 6 - 9 month period.

The role of the Technician Trainee is to become familiar with the basic mechanical training modules included in the program.  The Trainee’s overall responsibility is to learn, ask questions, and demonstrate competencies in the training modules.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develops a positive relationship with the Mentor.  Asks questions and demonstrates a consistent willingness to learn.
• Demonstrates a respectful communication style towards the Mentor, other co-workers, and management.
• Has an excellent attendance record.
• Studies the classroom material and actively participates in the hands-on shop training.
• Demonstrates an interest and engagement with the training that is provided.
• Successfully completes each training module.  Passes certification exam at the end of the completion of the training period.
• Maintains a neat and organized work area. 
• Cares for tools that are provided and uses them in safe manner.

 

Hours: Hours will generally be from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  Specific hours/schedule may vary slightly by location.

 

Compensation: Hourly compensation will vary depending on prior work experience and skills set.
