Boy... Have times changed!
My grandfather, John C. Vander Haag Sr.,
began this business as the "South Side
Junkyard" in Sanborn, Iowa, in 1939.
What started primarily as a scrap iron
and metal business supporting the war
effort has changed dramatically over the
last 65 years.
The Auto Salvage business began moving ahead during the
later years of the war as new parts became more difficult
to obtain and using recycled "salvage" parts became an
available alternative.
In 1955 my father, John C. Vander Haag Jr., took over
the family business and shifted the focus form older cars
to a later model salvage operation. After 20 years of
success in the automotive salvage industry, he again changed
the focus of our business. Having changed our headquarters
to Spencer, Iowa during the late 1960's, he saw an opportunity
in the truck parts and repair business. His vision has
enabled Vander Haag's to become a recognized leader in
the Used Truck Sales, Parts, and Equipment Industry today.
I would like to take this opportunity
to thank the friends, associates, customers
and employees who have helped to make
us successful over the last 65 years.
I know that with your continued support
we can carry this tradition of quality
and service into the next millennium.
Sincerely,
John M. Vander Haag |
